Hi Motago!
Welcome to this forum. Hope you like it as much as I do. First session was 1 hour (Information Session). Second session was 30 mins (Explaining of my eating plan). Third session (Weigh in) was 15 minutes. I only weigh every 4 or 6 weeks as I live far away from the consultancy rooms in Perth, but I weigh weekly on my scale at home and take my measurements. My consultant phoned twice already to find out how I was doing and she e-mails me weekly. I just love the support and watchdog! ![]() ![]() Last edited by EEEE; 24-11-2014 at 17:57. |

That's awesome yes I was just wondering as I feel like I don't get as much support as someone visiting the consultant I get ten minutes once a week just wondered what/how everyone else is but obviously I pay the same amount as someone who visits the clinic.

Hi Motago
I live in Perth and can easily get to the clinic but I prefer not to. My consultant emails me once in a while and is available if I need her but I prefer this forum for encouragement and support so I don't go in for regular weigh ins but weigh at home and tell my consultant once a month. If you feel like you need to visit the clinic you should do that, it's part of what you pay for, but there are some who pay the same and live in remote areas and are only able to do Cohen's online without the benefit of a consultant or weigh in at a clinic. |

What you pay for is your eating plan, refeeding plan (when at goal), management guidelines and monthly support, which is defined as a communication, whether done by Skype, email, in person or telephone 10-15 minutes is enough time to weigh in, have a quick chat and make sure you are okay on the eating plan.
You also pay for an explanation of your eating plan, refeeding plan and management guidelines - let's say another 1 hour & 30 minutes for arguments sake. Some clinics operate differently. It would be fair to suggest that anything outside of the contract time should be charged as an extra; it is of course someone's time. You are very lucky you are getting weekly without extra charges. They are going over and beyond ![]() 10-15 minutes is fair for a quick check in once a month; so if you are getting 10 minutes a week, you are actually getting 40 minutes a month (30 minutes more than another client) so that is around approximately $50.00 you are not paying to that consultant for his/her time per month or an extra $300.00 for the 6 months. All clinic consultants are happy to answer questions if you have them during your contracted period. They would not let an email or phone call be left unanswered. Think of these things and then see if your current support structure fits for you. Is everything on track with you? What would you need to discuss? I am curious, what support do you actually need? Your consultant is someone who has done the program and maintained their weight. They can provide you with guidance on the eating plan. They provide motivation. They understand your ups and downs and can guide you only. This is a general statement for everyone who reads this post, if you are having emotional struggles for example and your consultant went through this, then of course he or she will be able to guide you through their own experience. You should also though, speak with your GP and perhaps have a careplan done to be referred to a counsellor or psychologist who will work holistic with your consultant. This is a better way of doing things. Struggles such as these don't have anything to do with weight as such and sometimes they are much deeper than you think. I thought this might shed some light for you ![]() I hope it is helpful.
